Marc Leonard joined Blues for an undisclosed fee from Northampton Town in July 2024, signing a four-year contract at the Club.
Marc Leonard was born on Wednesday 19 December in Glasgow, Scotland, and began his career on the blue half of the Old Firm with Rangers. He would, though, switch colours to Maroon and continue his academy efforts at the other end of the M8, in Edinburgh, with Heart of Midlothian until, at 16-years-old, he decided a change of footballing philosophy was required and signed for Brighton & Hove Albion.
The majority of his first two seasons on the South Coast were spent playing for the Seagulls' Under-18s, including twice reaching the FA Youth Cup Fifth Round. And at the end of the second, having firmly settled in Sussex, the midfielder was named their Player of the Season.
Leonard would also make early strides toward development football during this period, debuting for the Under-23s during the final year of his scholarship, 2019/20, when he was twice a teammate of Birmingham City defender Alex Cochrane. Between 2020 and 2022, he embedded himself in development football and captained Brighton on 16 occasions across the Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy.
In August 2021, he made his professional debut away to Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup Round One, and that start was followed by 90 minutes in the competition's next fixture against Swansea City at the Amex - both games ended in victories for Brighton.
Eager to continue the flow of first-team appearances, having been named in 10 Premier League matchday squads, he joined Northampton Town on a season-long loan. Omitted from the starting XI for just one league fixture, Leonard was integral to the efforts of Jon Brady's side that culminated with promotion being clinched in third place on the final day of the Sky Bet League Two season.
He returned to Sixfields last term and was only absent for two matches across all competitions, adding five goals, many from outside of the box, to his career tally which was started courtesy of scoring the opener when facing Sutton United in October 2021.
The Scotsman has represented his nation since 2017, when he was selected at Under-17s level, and has been capped on seven occasions for the Under-21s, with all these outings coming in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification.
