The 32-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park and will bolster Chris Davies’ options in defence.
Robinson came through the academy ranks at Liverpool and was handed his senior debut by Rafa Benitez in May 2010 as he came off the bench against Hull City in the Premier League.
His appearance at the time made him Liverpool’s youngest-ever first-team player at 16 years and 250 days, breaking Max Thompson’s 36-year-old record.
Robinson’s first start for the Reds came against Birmingham City at Anfield in April 2011 in a 5-0 win for the home side in the Premier League.
After Liverpool signed Jose Enrique in the summer of 2011, Robinson’s chances of first-team action became limited and after just two appearances during the 2011-12 season – both in the League Cup – but the defender signed a long-term contract at the club.
With Brendan Rodgers taking charge at Anfield in the summer of 2012, Robinson was granted some opportunities in the UEFA Europa League prior to a loan move to Championship side Wolves in February 2013.
After a brief stint at Blackpool, Robinson joined Queens Park Rangers on a permanent deal in August 2014 but was immediately sent out on loan to Huddersfield Town to gain more first-team experience.
After fighting back from injury, he established himself at the heart of the R’s defence in the second tier but after rejecting the offer of a new contract at Loftus Road, Robinson opted to move to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2018.
Despite being a regular at the City Ground, his performances caught the attention of Sheffield United who swooped to sign Robinson in January 2020 as they impressed in the Premier League.
After the Blades suffered relegation back to the Championship at the end of the 2020-21 season, Robinson was an ever-present for Chris Wilder’s side as they lost a Championship play-off semi-final against Nottingham Forest before going one better with promotion back to the Premier League in 2022-23.
Robinson made a further 34 top-flight appearances in 2023-24 as the Blades were relegated once more, but he was a mainstay in the side at Bramall Lane and will add experience to Chris Davies’ defensive ranks.
